What it does

Adds workflow triggers and post functions for Jira Epics and their linked development items. Starting the first child item can generate an event that transitions the Epic to "In Progress." Resolving the last child item can generate an event that transitions the Epic to "Done." Work-start and work-done automations can be configured separately.

Key capabilities

from the Atlassian Marketplace listing

Child start trigger

Generates a "Dev Item Work Started" event when the first linked development item under an Epic starts development.

Child resolution trigger

Generates a "Dev Item Resolved" event when the last linked development item under an Epic is resolved.

Epic workflow transitions

Triggers configured in the Epic workflow can process events and transition the Epic to statuses such as "In Progress" or "Done."

Separate automation pairs

Work-start and work-done post-function and trigger pairs can be configured independently.

Use cases

  • An Epic moves to "In Progress" when development begins on its first linked child item.
  • An Epic moves to "Done" when its last linked child item is completed based on the Resolution field.
