ElectroBIM — cover image

What it does

ElectroBIM adds electrical design features to Autodesk Revit, including linked single-line diagrams, feeder and branch circuit sizing, fault and voltage drop calculations, arc-flash calculations, and selective coordination. Single-line diagrams can be created in drafting views, customized, and kept synchronized with the Revit model. The add-in can create arc-flash schedules and printable warning labels, and it displays time-current curves for breaker coordination.

Key capabilities

from the Autodesk App Store listing

Single-Line Diagrams

Creates linked single-line diagrams in Revit drafting views and keeps them synchronized with project changes.

Feeder Sizing

Sizes feeders based on upstream overcurrent protection, with options to override the selected feeder size.

Branch Circuit Sizing

Sizes branch circuit breakers and wires based on connected load, with options to override the selected values.

Fault Calculations

Voltage Drop Calculations

Calculates voltage drop between electrical equipment and supports resizing feeders that exceed the stated 3% limit.

Arc-Flash Calculations

Calculates arc-flash values, creates arc-flash schedules, and prints warning labels for devices.

Selective Coordination

Assigns time-current curves to breakers and displays the curves in a drafting view.

Use cases

  • Electrical designs can use linked drafting views to keep single-line diagrams aligned with model changes.
  • Project teams can print arc-flash warning labels for placement on devices in the field.

How it compares

BreakerWiring and Sizing Cable & CB focus on feeder, branch circuit, and circuit-breaker calculations within Revit, while ElectroBIM also includes linked single-line diagrams, fault, voltage drop, arc-flash, and selective coordination features. DIMOD focuses on sizing power electrical circuits, while ElectroBIM adds diagramming and several electrical analysis functions. Electrical Panels Manager covers panel data management, cable sizing, voltage drop analysis, and short-circuit studies; ElectroBIM additionally provides arc-flash calculations and selective coordination.
